Wenham Museum’s 40th Annual Family Festival and Craft Fair will return to the museum’s lawn August 25, 2012. The fair this year features juried regional artisans from over 27 North Shore communities.

Featured one-of-a-kind hand made crafts ranging from custom wool braided rugs, needlepoint bags and shoes, ladies men’s and children’s accessories, pin cushions, fun textiles, canned goods, holiday ornaments, candles, herbal teas and tea accessories, fine art, doll accessories, photography, crotched baby items and novelties, folk dolls crafted from primitive and folk art fabric and more!

Renowned Silhouette Portrai Artist Carol Lebeaux returns to the museum for a special guest appearance for visitors to commission a keepsake hand-cut portrait created during 10-minute sittings or from profile photograph.

Visitors are encouraged to bring new and old dolls to the museum's doll clinic for advice on care, storage, minor repairs, and referrals for restoration work and doll identification.

Local shops will offer sidewalk sales and visitors to the fair can enjoy a tasty treat Wenham Council on Aging bake sale and lunch at Wenham Fire Department’s annual barbeque.

Families will enjoy face painting, traditional 19-century games and a children’s sign-a-long led by the Stoneridge Singers, craft demonstrations of wool rug braiding, fairy dolls and more.

In the tradition of Wenham Day, the museum will offer free admission to the museum’s galleries including the museum’s special family-friendly summer exhibition Blast Off! Sky-High and Sci-Fi Space Toys a fun look at the vintage toys that reflect the science—and science fiction—of over a century of human space exploration. Museum guests will also enjoy a look at the museum’s collections featuring a world-renown doll and toy collection, 10 working model train layouts, a costume and textile gallery, children’s interactive Family Discovery Gallery where children can play in an Enchanted Forest. Tours of the museum’s historic Claflin-Richards House circa 1690 are also available upon request

Proceeds from this event help fund the educational mission of the Wenham Museum, a nonprofit institution.

Wenham Museum is a family-friendly museum of childhood and New England family life founded in 1921. Visit the museum’s model train gallery including 10 running layouts, world-renowned doll collection, vintage dollhouses, an interactive family gallery where families can role play and explore reproductions of the museum’s permanent collections hands-on, the museum's extensive costume and textile collection, antique toys, historic photographs, as well as special exhibits and family programming. The historic Claflin-Richards House c.1690, located on the museum’s campus offers tours upon request.
