Join an art session in Gloucester Ma designed just for the young artist!

Certified Montessori teacher, artist and local mother, Colleen Apostolos-Marsh will guide your young artist in an exploration of color, shape, and texture. Using a variety of media, your child will be free to express their in a beautiful space while socializing and engaging in cooperative play.

Bowl Painting at The Open Door

 Proceeds from the Open Door Empty Bowl dinner benefit community programs.

The Open Door invites you to bowl painting session! Bring the kids to come paint bowls for the annual The Open Door Empty Bowl Dinner 2014 in May where painted bowls will be auctioned off to the highest bidder! This free session is an opportunity to express yourself artistically while helping The Open Door raise funds to aid North Shore families and individuals in need.

Joppa Flats Education Center vacation programs offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities while we keep minds active and hands busy during school break. Each session offers a different theme, with art activities, experiments, group games, and scheduled family presentations for everyone. It's free-flow learning for the whole family. Come once or make it a multiple-day adventure; drop in for an hour or stay all day for a vacation activity that suits your family schedule. Families are encouraged to dress in their amazing Arctic animal clothes and children can bring their favorite Arctic / Antarctic toy animal for the presentations!

Kids will learn about the unique properties of ice, polar explorers and arctic a

Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week session about the unique properties of polar explorers and ice science - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! What did explorers find on Arctic and Antarctic expeditions?  What kinds of creatures have adapted to freezing temperatures? Students will learn all about ice through a variety of icy experiments, challenges, and projects.  Using a variety of ice shapes, build an ice tower as high as you can.  Paint a snowy scene with saltwater and watch crystals appear.  Children are encouraged to stay afterwards (2:30-3:30) to watch The Blue Planet: Frozen Seas, a nature documentary about polar sea creatures.

“Inspire me Mermaid” Reading and Craft Time at ATHM

The American Textile History Museum in Lowell invites kids to a fun reading and craft time! Kids will love being read to by a mermaid and then doing a fun mermaid-related craft! 6th grader Amber lives in Lowell and has a passion for all things mermaid and aquatic. She also loves little kids and hopes to be a positive role model for them. She recently received an Aaron’s Presents grant to create her costume, with the help of designer/seamstress Denise Webb of ATHM, and offer this unique program to local girls and boys. Aaron’s Presents offers kids in 8th grade and below the opportunity and resources they need to dream up and carry out positive projects that benefit others. Don’t miss this special event designed by a special young person from Lowell!

Using rotary cutters, paints, and easy hand/machine sewing, we’ll transform old, favorite concert t-shirts or favorite knit shirts into wearable works of art. This is a fun and interactive class for those with beginner through advanced sewing experience.
