Middle Street Walk 2014

The lighting of the Lobster Trap Tree is part of Middle Street Walk's finale.

The 17th annual Middle Street Walk is a great way to experience Gloucester's Historic District while having fun with the family. The Festivities begin at 11 am and go all the way through to the lighting of the lobster pot tree in downtown Gloucester! Pick up a Schedule of Events and get your walk on!  A whole day of FREE activities, shows and events await for all the members of the family.

Paint Your Own Buoy - Friday

Paint a buoy ornament for the Gloucester Lobster Trap Tree at Art Haven!

All ages are welcome for two days of public buoy painting at Cape Ann Art Haven in Gloucester! Bring your inner artist and paint a buoy for use as decoration on the Gloucester Lobster Trap Buoy Tree.  Buoys will be on display throughout the Holiday season, and then they'll be auctioned off in January at Art Haven's Annual Buoy Auction Fundraiser!

Holiday Fairs at Essex Churches

Holiday Fairs at Essex Churches - The warmth of an old country church fair enlivens the town on a cold, winter’s day when all three of Essex’s downtown churches hold their annual Holiday Fair. All three churches are within walking distance with free on street parking. Gift bargains are served up along with homemade food and hot beverages. A dollar goes a long way at this event.

Essex Clam Fest 2014

Enjoy food, live music and all kinds of family fun at the Essex Clam Fest!

There's no better place in New England to eat clams than Essex, Massachusetts! Now in its 32nd year, this local festival takes place in Memorial Park in downtown Essex boasts 40 to 50 food, craft, and local product vendors. The Essex Division of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 32nd annual Essex ClamFest in Memorial Park in Essex. The highlight of the day will be the Clam Chowder Tasting, a competition that pits area restaurants against one another to determine who serves the best clam chowder on Cape Ann. Local restaurants are expected to serve up their favorite chowder recipes starting at noon and ending about 2 pm.

Judges of the chowder will be announced in advance. The public will also have the opportunity to sample and vote on their favorite chowder.

In addition to the Chowder competition, an interesting variety of activities has been planned, including:

  • An arts and crafts area
  • Entertainment throughout the afternoon
  • The Lions Club Food Pavilion
  • An Ipswich Ale Station
  • Organization, church, and non-profit tables
  • Kids Rides and Games
  • A Health Fair

All ages are welcome for our Fifth Annual Pumpkin Carving contest on Saturday the 25th! There will be some fall snacks, beautiful pumpkins to be carved, and great prizes for the winning pumpkins (both kids and adults).
